Your performance works.
That's the problem.

You deliver. You meet the expectations. From the outside, nothing looks wrong — which is exactly why no one asks how you're doing, and why it can feel impossible to admit that underneath, something's running on empty.

I spent over 30 years in fashion, media, and technology, so I know these worlds from the inside: the pressure to perform, the cost of never dropping the act, how much competence can quietly hide. Therapy with me is where you don't have to keep it up.

MY PARTICULAR FOCUS

The inner work men rarely let themselves do.

Most men learn early to perform strength and keep the struggle out of sight. I work with men who are tired of holding it all together alone — making room for vulnerability, anxiety, anger, and the parts that don't usually get spoken. Direct, warm, and without judgement.

AND A SECOND FOCUS

For people whose work is their identity

Fashion, tech, design, media — I've spent my life in these worlds and know what they cost. The pressure to keep producing, the blurring of self and output, the insecurity beneath the surface.

Relational

What happens between us matters more than any technique. We work together, in the room, not you on a couch being analysed.

HOW I WORK

Integrative

No single method fits everyone. I draw on several, shaped around what you bring and what actually helps — not a fixed programme.

Trauma-informed

What we carry lives in the body as well as the mind. I work with both, including through breathwork, at a pace you set.

Creative

I’m interested in how art and culture can be part of healing - how a novel, a film, a painting or a piece of music can give voice to what we struggle to put into words.

Therapy is about becoming more yourself, not a perfect version of you.

WHO I WORK WITH

  • Men exploring vulnerability and emotion

  • People navigating life transitions

  • Men in professional and creative roles

  • Creatives in fashion and design

  • Adults in high-pressure workplaces

  • LGBTQ+ adults navigating self-worth and belonging

  • Adults affected by childhood emotional neglect

  • Anyone feeling the cost of coping

Even if you don’t identify with any of the above categories, feel free to connect for an Intro Chat anyway to explore how we might work together.

This isn't a checklist. If something here sounds like you, or near enough, let’s connect.

Anxiety & depression

Chronic worry, low mood, the flatness and overthinking that can settle in when you've been coping too long.

WHAT I CAN HELP WITH

Work & burnout

Boundaries, impostor feelings, exhausting cultures, and the toll of always performing in high-pressure professional worlds.

Childhood & its long shadow

How early experiences of neglect or trauma still shape self-worth, relationships, and how you cope now.

Men's emotional lives

More pressure than you let on — and too often blamed for going quiet under it. Here, that's understood, not held against you.

Creative lives

Making things for a living, or trying to, when the work is inseparable from who you are. Blocks, comparison, precarity, and what happens to identity when the making stops.

Sexuality, gender & belonging

The quieter costs of not quite fitting, and what it takes to stop bracing against a world that wasn't built with you in mind. Familiar ground for me, not just professionally.

ABOUT ME

Colin Wilfred Chapman

I came to therapy the long way round. I spent over 30 years in fashion, media, and technology — including at Google and the BBC — inside exactly the high-pressure, high-performance worlds many of my clients are still navigating. I know what it takes to keep producing, keep coping, keep the surface intact. And I know what it costs.

That background isn't incidental to how I work — it's why people in these worlds often feel understood here without having to explain themselves. I know what it is to not-quite-belong, and to perform belonging until it passes for the real thing. I've made things for a living and felt the weight of that. I bring all of it into the room.

My approach is integrative, relational, and trauma-informed: less about fixing you, more about making space for the parts that don’t usually get heard. I’m a BACP registered member, qualified in integrative counselling, with a particular interest in how art and culture can be part of healing - how a novel, a film, a painting or a piece of music can give voice to feelings we struggle to put into words ourselves. It’s something I bring into the room, and I’m always glad to explore it with the people I work with.
